Bagel Points

Hi Everyone in Leagues 1 & 2,

It's been put to me by a certain Mr Morrison that perhaps Bagel Points (Claiming a bonus point for winning a set 6-0) should be allowed for League One as it is for the other Doubles leagues.

Having thought on this and spoken to a few players involved in the Doubles Leagues it seems the consensus could be to allow the Bagel point in League 1.

So I thought I'd offer everyone in Leagues 1 & 2 to voice an opinion on the matter.

Basically, the Bagel Point, should encourage competitive play right to the very last point of the set being played, a bonus for the dominant team, and a delight for the weaker team denying that bonus point to stronger opponents.

It has worked well in leagues 2-5 and there has not been one complaint about this rule in the years it's been established.

If you agree to allow Bagel points in League One, or really not too fussed either way, you don't need to reply to this email, however, If you do harbour strong views on why we shouldn't incorporate Bagel points then please do let me know what they are, I would very much like to hear them.

If there is a consensus to allow the Bagel points they will start from the next Apr-Jun session.

See you on the courts...

DaveT
