NEW Singles & Doubles Leagues

NEW Singles & Doubles Leagues Oct-Dec 2025

Hi Everyone,

It was put to me the other day...........

"Why bother with so many leagues, why not have a smaller number of leagues filled just with players playing most if not all of their matches.."

A little brutal but an interesting suggestion........

Although seemingly everyone enjoys the leagues, the only real gripe I hear is over those who play very few matches, are difficult to arrange matches with or don't make efforts to arrange or reply to any emails or invites.

Half the number of leagues with half the number of players all commited to playing most if not all of their matches would address that.

Anyhow, it's an idea, a suggestion like others I receive from time to time..., all of which are very welcome.

However, aside from the above,

This is the standard call out for the Singles & Doubles leagues:

....The earlier you let me know of your interest (Singles or Doubles) the better chance you're likely to be placed into the league of your choice,...

Remember, only the top 4 places are guaranteed promotion, to make way for those promoted, the last 4 places will be relegated, 5th & 6th have some protection for remaining in the league, but it's not guaranteed, 7th & 8th positions will be relegated if we have new entrants wishing to join that league, and, if there are more than 2 new entrants wishing to join into any one league, choice is made on a first come, first served basis, so register your interest to play in the leagues early rather than later.

For those already playing in the leagues and you wish to continue you need not do anything, you will be automatically enrolled in the leagues whether or not you are promoted, relegated or remain in the same league.

However,
If you have played 2 or fewer matches in the last 3 months you will be removed and not automatically included in the next set of leagues, you must get in touch with me if you wish to play in the next set of leagues.

If you wish to cease playing in the leagues, please, please let me know before the leagues are published.

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT . If a number of players pull out soon after the leagues are published, this upsets the balance of some leagues to the detriment of those players in those leagues, so please, please let me know if you no longer wish to play in the leagues.

Naturally, if you are changing partners in the Doubles Leagues you must also let me know.

For those entering, bear in mind that at least 1 match must be played within 5 weeks of the league start date, otherwise the player/team will be removed from the leagues.
Naturally a player/team can make a representation to explain their inactivity and intentions to play in the remaining weeks, however, this representation must be made before the end of the first 5 week period, they will then have 1 further week to play their first match , if no match is played, they will be removed from the leagues.
Due to repeated complaints about players who seemingly make no effort to make themselves available, nor actively arrange or play their matches, this 5 week rule will be adhered to.
If you cannot see yourself playing any matches in the first 6 weeks of the period, DO NOT join the leagues.

Important Note:
Playing in the leagues is a commitment of time and effort, not only on the courts but in arranging matches, unfortunately not everyone can manage to play as much as they wish to, and for various reasons, their intentions at the outset of the leagues become compromised and they sadly end up playing very few or even no matches at all, as much as it is a disappointment for themselves, it is also very disappointing and frustrating for other players/teams in the leagues.

If you think that you will be away, recovering from injury, unavailable for a good part of the Oct-Dec period, or you just can't be bothered to play more than 2 or 3 matches then PLEASE, DO NOT enter the leagues, instead, play some friendlies, practice those backhands, perhaps take some coaching, it really does make a difference, just a few lessons can get you back on track, use the ball machine, and when you're ready, return into the leagues (into a league of YOUR CHOICE..) when you can see yourself playing an active role throughout the 3 month period.

The current leagues finish on Tuesday 30th September and I hope to have the new leagues up and running soon afterwards.

Best wishes..
DaveT
